Update from Administrator – June 3, 2020

As always, our team and I hope this finds you safe and healthy. We continue to offer our weekly conference call for families and FaceTime calls, Zoom meetings, and window visits for you and your loved ones.

From the beginning of this crisis, we have implemented extensive infection control measures to protect residents. I have listed those in many past emails, our weekly “Town Hall” conference calls, and this information remains on our website. As always, if you would like any details on them, please let me know via Info@marlboroughhillsrhcc.com

Marlborough Hills Specific COVID Metrics as of 6/3/2020:

CONFIRMED COVID POSITIVE

Residents 33              Staff: 63

COVID GRADUATES (medically cleared after testing positive)

Residents 37              Staff 21

Marlborough Hills Specific COVID Metrics as of 6/4/2020 (PROJECTED):

CONFIRMED COVID POSITIVE

Residents 5                Staff: 24

COVID GRADUATES (medically cleared after testing positive)

Residents 95              Staff 54

As you can see from the above metrics of today compared to our projection for tomorrow, this will be our largest positive movement we have seen.  We are planning to clear our North 2 unit of COVID tomorrow morning and bring back some level of normalcy to that population of our residents.

We have purchased and now have an additional 15 Samsung Galaxy Tablets to assist in providing virtual visits during this challenging time.  Please continue to use our special email address Info@marlboroughhillsrhcc.com to request virtual visits, or ask questions.

Our nurses are quite busy as you can easily imagine and don’t always answer their nurse’s station phone as they are in full PPE and engaged in direct patient care. As a result, calls to the nurses station by family and friends may not be answered or responded to as quickly as normal.  I apologize for any calls that have not been answered resulting in worry and frustration. We are expecting our unit secretaries to return to work on Monday and have a temporary staff member assigned to North 2 to answer the phone in the meantime.

As some States ease restrictions, we too have now begun receiving guidance on easing restrictions to include Guidelines for Outdoor Social Distancing Visits.

I’m offering a sneak preview of what we are working very hard to have in place next week:

Guidelines for Outdoor Social Distancing Visits

This facility is pleased that we are now able to facilitate outdoor social distancing visits between you and your loved one.  We recognize how stressful the visitor restrictions have been on our residents and their families/friends and we want this to be a successful and safe opportunity for all.   Procedures have been established with guidance from the MA. Dept of Public Health, the MA. Dept. of Epidemiology and State Long Term Care Ombudsman Office and must be adhered to for the safety of our residents. We ask that you review the below and acknowledge that you understand and will comply with the guidelines.

Guidelines

–All visits must be scheduled in advance and will take place in a designated area.

–The visitor must have their temperature taken and answer simple questions prior to the resident coming out for the visit.

The resident and their visitor(s) must always wear a facial mask.

–Social distancing must be maintained throughout the entire visit. This means that the resident and their visitor(s) must always be at least six (6) feet apart.

–Person to person contact between the resident and visitor(s) is prohibited.

–No items may be transferred between visitor(s), residents and staff.

–The visits will be for a maximum of thirty (30) minutes.

–The maximum number of visitors allowed at one time is two (2).

–Visits will only be scheduled before sundown.

–A facility staff member will be required to remain with the resident and visitor(s) at all times

Enjoy your time with your loved one and please comply with the safety guidelines above!

Our next “Town Hall” meeting is scheduled for tomorrow evening, Thursday, 6/4 at 5:00pm and we will discuss more detailed information on center updates. We will also of course provide answers to your questions regarding the outdoor visits we are all looking forward to.

Our continued commitment is to be as transparent as possible and work to address any issues that arise. This is an incredibly challenging time and we will continue to do all we can to get through this, together.

Thank you,

Ronald Doty, Administrator
